01 / SHARED PURPOSE

When parents and children help others together, a new kind of connection can begin.

UNDERSTANDING IS WHERE HOPE BEGINS

OUR APPROACHShared service, stronger connection

Helping others can help us understand each other.

HilHope brings together two purposes: supporting children who need learning opportunities, and helping parents and children build a more trusting relationship through a shared contribution. ConnectEd gives this belief a practical place to begin.

01

Find a purpose together

Look beyond everyday disagreements toward a real need: helping children in Nepal practise English and find the confidence to speak.

02

Learn to work as a team

Share responsibility, listen to each other’s ideas, and value what each generation can contribute. A common task makes room for cooperation rather than control.

03

Reflect and grow closer

Our founding mother and daughter found that serving together helped them listen and trust. Their lived experience inspires our invitation to other families to discover a shared purpose through service.

We begin with the children’s real needs and respect them as partners in learning. Through consistent, caring service, both children and participating families have opportunities to grow.

OUR STORYFrom family to shared purpose

A mother and daughter. A different way to connect.

HilHope began when a mother truly looked back at herself. She had believed that care and protection were love—until she saw how her own anxiety and need for control could become pressure for her daughter.

Serving children together in Nepal opened another way forward. Rather than only standing in the roles of parent and child, they began working toward a purpose they shared. Learning to listen, share responsibility, and trust became part of helping others.

Read the Founder’s Story

A mother, and also a mother’s daughter.

The founder’s mother held her family together through strength and sacrifice. Yet criticism and exhaustion also left wounds. As a mother herself, the founder tried to balance caring for her daughter with worrying about her own mother, often overlooking her own fear and fatigue.

In adolescence, her daughter wanted room to explore and to be trusted. The founder’s desire to protect her sometimes became pressure. Recognizing this helped her see that her daughter was not only someone to care for, but also someone who could teach her to become a different kind of mother.

Later, mother and daughter served children together in Nepal. Through shared responsibility, they began to listen, trust, and grow alongside one another. What began as a new understanding within one family became a wish to support many more through meaningful service.

WHAT WE BELIEVEOur mission

Helping others is also a way to grow.

HilHope’s family-centred purpose meets ConnectEd’s education work: more opportunities for children, and a shared contribution for families.

01

STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS

Bring relationships closer

We begin with a child’s first and deepest bonds, especially between mothers and daughters. Understanding the love and hurt we carry can make room for a more trusting connection.

02

NURTURE HOPE

Help every child find hope

Hope is more than achievement. It means knowing that you are understood, that the future holds meaning, and that you have the courage to move toward it.

03

ENABLE GROWTH

Let love become a strength

Through education, communication, and presence, we hope to turn pressure into support and control into trust, so parents and children can grow together.

CONNECTED IN NEPALA long-term education project

More than English lessons. A connection that continues.

ConnectEd is a student-led effort that grew from Hilary’s first visit to Nepal in 2024. What began as a freshman humanities project became a long-term commitment: giving children more opportunities to speak, connect, and imagine a wider future.

The challenge is not a lack of dreams. It is limited access to spoken-English practice, teachers, devices, and learning resources. Regular conversation helps children take part, build confidence, and feel connected to the world beyond their classroom.

How a shared purpose becomes lasting support

01

Weekly English companionship

Since October 2024, online lessons have focused on speaking, interaction, and confidence. Conversation-based teaching and a small teacher–student ratio make space for participation and personal encouragement.

02

Practical learning resources

Fundraising supports laptops, projectors, microphones, internet access, books, and other practical needs. Better tools help classrooms connect and give regular learning a stronger foundation.

03

Local partnership & volunteer support

The project works with schools and local communities, guides student volunteers, and runs regular sessions. Sharing the story and raising awareness help this support continue beyond a single visit.

PEOPLE BEHIND THE PROJECT

The people who make the connection possible

Tutors offer more than English knowledge. Their guidance, encouragement, and regular presence create a personal connection across borders. Student volunteers learn to teach with care and consistency, while children gain more opportunities to take part.

THE NEXT CHAPTER

A next-year goal of USD 10,000.

The programme aims to raise a further USD 10,000 in the next year to support more schools and children asking for help. This is a future fundraising goal, separate from the USD 10,000+ already raised.
